Jordan Bostic's Aggie Volleyball Diary :: 2007 Season

Jordan Bostic's Aggie Volleyball Diary :: August 20th, 2007

Jordan Bostic is a defensive specialist for the 2007 NMSU Aggies volleyball team. Jordan was second on the team in both digs (311) and digs per game (2.47) and was named to the academic All-WAC team in 2006 with a GPA of 4.0. Jordan will be a senior in the fall and is majoring in Journalism/Mass Communication and she'll be filing entries in the Aggie Volleyball Diary throughout the 2007 season, giving fans a taste of life on the volleyball team.

It's volleyball season again, and I couldn't be more pumped up about it! Kim, Bri, Anna and I are all seniors, and for us, everything is somewhat bittersweet. We showed up for our very first practice, and I was joking with the other seniors, saying things like, "Ladies, this is the last time we are going to do the high knees warm-up routine on the first day of two-a-days!" and "This is the last time that we are going to soak our bodies in ice water after our first day of practice!" Everyone was groaning and laughing, but really, with this being our last year, every little moment is a memory and a milestone of some sort.

Along those same lines, Aug. 18 was the last time we are ever going to play in our pre-season scrimmage. Designed to smooth our nerves and work out the kinks, we have a scrimmage every year- usually against alumni- before our first official game. Due to one of the alumni getting married (Congrats Jackie Godber!), we had no alumni players, so we had an intrasquad scrimmage instead. I'll be honest; these scrimmages are not usually my favorite matches. It's typically a weird atmosphere because our fans don't know who to cheer for ("Go Crimson! I mean, Go White!"), so it becomes eerily quiet and feels like practicing in a fishbowl. However, it was an absolute blast!  Continue Reading This Post >>

Spring volleyball practice is officially over! Well, I guess we will be officially finished at this time next week when we have finished maxing out in the weightroom, but yesterday, we concluded team practice.

To put a big exclamation point on our spring season that saw us win 19 games and only lose 4, we ran The Hill. No, that is not a typo - The Hill is so well known to athletes at NMSU that it deserves to be capitalized! It's gigantic, it's steep and it is an incredible (unbearable?) leg workout!  Continue Reading This Post >>
