Jene Coppedge's Aggie Volleyball Diary :: November 8th, 2011

Hello Aggies!

I apologize for the delay in blogging lately, these past couple weeks have been really hectic. Aggie volleyball has been full speed for the past few weeks! We have had some good wins and some heartbreaking losses.

After our road trip to Utah and Idaho, we really had to come back home and get refocused. Two losses were not ideal for our post season hopes so now we are having to work even harder in order to make our NCAA tournament hopes a reality.

I think we were able to gain some of our confidence and fight back after a win over Fresno and Nevada at home this past weekend. We head out to San Jose and Hawaii this weekend. This is going to be an exciting, yet very long trip for us and it’s imperative that we remained focused from here on out. We cannot afford to have any more let ups and I don’t think we will.   Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Fans!

I want to begin by thanking all of you who made it out to the Hawaii game this past Wednesday, you guys were phenomenal! The gym was full of life, we couldn’t ask for better fans. Even though it didn’t end the way we had hoped, we are very encouraged by the fight we were able to put up against them (besides the 5th game) and are only more motivated to get better so that we can get some redemption at their place!

After such an emotional game on Wednesday, Coach really stressed the importance of not having a letdown for our game on Saturday against San Jose State. He says it really common after emotional games like Hawaii, for teams to lose their next game, and that was absolutely not an option for us. So the next day, we were back at it, preparing for San Jose. Because we were able to maintain our focus, we handled San Jose in three.   Continue Reading This Post >>

Hello All Aggie Fans!

We had an awesome week and weekend on the road and came back with three wins under our belt to show for it! We started off with a victory over our in-state rival UNM on Tuesday, then picked up sweeps over Reno on Thursday and Fresno on Saturday.

We are beginning to play some of our best volleyball yet and it is very exciting to see and experience. We have really come together even more over this past week in preparation for our big battle tomorrow evening… Hawaii.   Continue Reading This Post >>

Hello All!

This past week and weekend has been a great one for Aggie Volleyball. We had the opportunity to be home all week, and I think all the girls would agree with me when I say, “It was so nice.” I think we all finally had the chance to get caught up on our schoolwork, as well as start preparing to hit the road again. Two weekends at home has been such a treat. We have had the chance to have a little more of a social life, whoop whoop!  Continue Reading This Post >>

Aggie Fans!

I won’t lie…this weekend was a rough one for Aggie Volleyball. We were out in Chicago for the weekend at the Northwestern tournament. We played three matches this weekend; one Friday and two Saturday. Friday we took on Colgate and managed to pull out a win in four. Although we didn’t play our best volleyball we were still able to get the win. Saturday on the other hand, we were not as fortunate. We were matched up against Duquesne and Northwestern, both very good teams. We lost in three games to both teams.

What it boiled down to was preparation. They came out ready to battle and we didn’t. It was very disappointing for us to throw away those opportunities like we did, but it was a very good lesson to learn for our team. It exposed some of the weaknesses in our thought processes that we have never noticed before.   Continue Reading This Post >>

Hello All Aggie Fans!

It has been another long weekend in the life of Aggie Volleyball! We arrived home on Sunday as tournament champions from the Texas State Tournament! Whoop whoop! Good work Aggies! There were some rough spots in the weekend, but we still managed to fight through them and pull out the wins.

We continue to work towards our team goals everyday and are getting closer and closer to obtaining them with every practice and match we play. We all arrived home exhausted from playing four matches within two days but had to push through it, considering we played our I-10 rivals Tuesday.

Another win great win for the Aggies! We took UTEP down in three games! Thanks to all who came out to support us! We had a great crowd, probably the biggest one yet this season. You guys were awesome.   Continue Reading This Post >>

Jene CoppedgeHello again Aggie Fans!

Another long yet exciting week and weekend has passed for Aggie Volleyball! We hosted the Hotel Encanto Classic this weekend and had the opportunity to play some very athletic teams. We took on Grambling, Arkansas-Little Rock, and LSU. These were all very exiting games and excellent opportunities for our girls to be challenged and to improve on things we have been working on this past week. We made some big strides this weekend, but are still looking for more each time we play.

A big thank you to all who came out and supported! The environment was incredible to play in because of you guys! We really appreciate it and hope you continue to come out and bring your friends and family.

It is a short week for us here in Cruces. We leave Thursday for a tournament in San Marcos and will be there until Sunday, yet another long weekend of volleyball that we are all looking forward to.
These tournaments have definitely been quite the adjustment for our dear freshmen though. They have had to quickly master the art of time management in order to keep up with their studies in addition to all of our practices and travels. Surprisingly enough, they are all doing an excellent job of it. They look like the “typical college freshman” less and less every day. We are all so proud!   Continue Reading This Post >>

Jene CoppedgeHello all! My name is Jene Coppedge and I am going to be providing weekly updates with the inside scoop on Aggie Volleyball for all you wonderful fans this season!

A little bit about myself to begin with, I am a sophomore defensive specialist from right here in Las Cruces, New Mexico and am immensely enjoying my time with this team already and the season has just begun. We have great chemistry and are so pumped to finally be kicking the season off.

As most of you know we just got back from the Lobo Classic tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico where we took on Nebraska and South Florida. Although the ending result wasn’t exactly what we had hoped for against Nebraska, we are still very encouraged by glimpse of the potential we have for this season.  Continue Reading This Post >>
