The Daily Aggie :: 07/31/08

We've got a lot to talk about today so let's get right into it. First off the 2008/2009 men's basketball schedule was announced yesterday. Immediately the first thought that crossed our minds when we saw the schedule was KANSAS??? REALLY??? AWESOME!!! A lot was made of the trip to USC because that was pretty much common knowledge. No offense to USC but they're no Kansas. A couple of other thoughts. The Aggies are playing a LOT of California teams, eight to be exact. The next thing we noticed was that the annual home-and-home rivalry tilt between the Aggies and Lobos will both be played two days before major holidays, in Albuquerque on the Dec. 23 and in Las Cruces on Dec. 30. It will be interesting to see the turnout for both of these games. Also, the home game against UTEP is on a Sunday. We can't remember the last time the Aggies played a game on a Sunday (if any of our readers do, let us know in the comments). For more on the schedule be sure to check out our brief interview with Coach Menzies.

The Aggies announced yesterday that there will now be reserved seating for the women's volleyball home matches.

The NMSU football team will be holding a FREE football camp for kids on August 2nd. The camp is open to boys and girls, eighth grade and under. To register for the camp or if you have questions concerning the camp, call (575) 646-2521 or email football@nmsu.edu.

The Aggie baseball team announced the signing of shortstop Wes Schneider.

Finally, we're excited to announce that NMSU Associate AD Steve Macy will begin blogging at bleedCrimson.net. Steve will be discussing various topics (basically anything and everything) and we look forward to reading his thoughts on Aggie athletics and we hope that you our readers do also.
