I've decided that the volleyball season needs to be longer. A LOT longer.
Let's talk about the past few games. There's not a lot to be said about the Nevada game - aside from the fact that when all hope was lost, this team came back in an amazing way. I've always said I've wanted to be a fly on the wall of the locker room during the break. I think I heard Coach from here. Too bad Kyle D. wasn't that exciting (said tongue in cheek of course!!!)
As far as Fresno State goes, even from just the radio we could tell that Amber Simpson was on FIRE. I'm surprised they didn't have to call out the fire department. Krystal was on fire as well with a season high 21 digs. OK, let's face it - after that first set, the entire team was cookin'.
I just wish there was an easier way to watch the matches. Most of the schools have the technology but you have to buy a season pass to watch one game. Unless I'm missing something, I haven't seen a way to buy single matches.
So what's coming up? The last 2 regular season matches before the WAC tournament. Thursday night is Utah State. Our last meeting with them ended up with an Aggie sweep - 25-19, 25-21, 25-22. Saturday is San Jose State and last time we met them Amber Simpson broke the All Time Blocks record at NMSU. We swept them as well.
Then it's off to the islands for the WAC Tournament. I don't have any details yet but as soon as I or the folks here at Bleed Crimson get them, we'll share them. Rumor has it that the championship match will be on either ESPN or ESPN 2.
EDIT to add: I did find the subscription package for the WAC Tournament. Looks like you can buy individual games for 9.95 each or the entire tournament for 19.95
The big thing after the tournament, and I'll be posting a lot more about this in the coming weeks, is the game against Virginia Commonwealth on November 27. Yeah, it's Thanksgiving. But here's the important fact about this game - It's Senior Night. It's going to be a challenge to get folks out that night but we hope you'll make plans now to be there. Senior Night is a great evening - very emotional for those of us who've been fans for a while. This year it's going to especially tough. We have 4 seniors. 2 of them have been with us for 4 years, the other 2 for just 2 years but they've all made an amazing impact. We'll be saying goodbye to Krystal Torres, Amber Simpson, Alyssa Gintant and Lindsey Yon. I better stock up on Kleenex.
The last game of the year finds the Lady Aggies traveling into Hostile Territory - better known as UNM. The Lobos have been making great strides this year under Coach Nelson. Again, more on that as we get closer to the match.
That's it for now. Make your plans for great volleyball action this Thursday and Saturday! Join the Lady Aggie Tailgaters! We'll be set up in front of the Pan Am at 5pm on Thursday and 4pm on Saturday!
