DENVER, CO - New Mexico State wide receiver Chris Williams was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week announced by the WAC office Monday morning. Williams helped lead the Aggies to their first win over I-10 rival UTEP since 2002 with a 29-24 victory at Aggie Memorial Stadium this past weekend.

Williams, a junior from Rio Rancho, N.M. (Rio Rancho HS), caught eight passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns. In the fourth quarter, he scored both touchdowns with an 82-yard reception and a 59-yard reception, the latter being the game-winner. The 221 yards are the sixth most by any player in the nation this season. His seven touchdown receptions on the year are tied for the second most in the country. His 221 yards receiving was just the fifth 200-yard plus receiving performance and it ranks third all-time behind Jeff Evans (360 in 1978) and Ryan Shaw (240 in 1998).

The Aggies travel to Auburn this Saturday. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m. You can listen to all the action with the ‘Voice of the Aggies’ Jack Nixon on KGRT 104 FM, as well as listen to the game in Spanish with Martin Cortez on Vista 98.7 FM. The game will also be televised live on Aggie Vision on Comcast channel 4 in Las Cruces, El Paso (Ch. 24), Albuquerque (Ch. 53) and Gallup (Ch. 66).
