Rick Pratt, WAC Coach of the YearSAN ANTONIO, TX - Aggie swimming and diving head coach Rick Pratt was named WAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Aggies to a third place finish in the 2009 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The award is voted on by the WAC coaches.

The team's third place finish at the WAC championships was the highest since joining the WAC and the team was right in the hunt for the title with three events remaining. The Aggies finished behind the two favorites to win the title, Nevada (which won for the third consecutive season) and Northern Arizona whom the Aggies have defeated in the regular season in each of the past two years.

Freshman Maria Spies swept the 100 yard and 200 yard breast stroke events and won the 200 yard event in 2:12.02, an NCAA provisional qualifying time. The good news for Aggie fans is that the team loses just three seniors to graduation.
