LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Day two of the 2009 NM State football fall camp is in the books and the energy and excitement around the team hasn’t been higher. The Aggies put together a two and a half hour practice on Thursday afternoon, consisting of individual and team drills, as well as special teams and offensive versus defensive competitions.

Head coach Dewayne Walker was pleased with the progress from day one to day two of camp.

"I felt really good about practice today and the improvement made from yesterday," Walker said. "The jump from the first practice to the second practice was great. We need to continue to progress every day in practice and if we do that we will be in good shape."

The team was dressed in shorts and helmets, as it continues to go through the NCAA mandated five-day acclimation period before they jump into full pads on Sunday, Aug. 9 and two-a-day practices, which starts on Aug. 10.

NM State's football team opens the season, Sept. 5, at home against Idaho in what is its first season-opener against a conference opponent since 1988.
