The Aggie volleyball team swept Nevada on Thursday night but it was not without a little bit of drama as Nevada opened up the match scoring 13 of the first 16 points to take a 13-3 lead. The Aggies would rally to take the set 25-22 and then won the next two sets by identical 25-21 scores. Kayleigh Giddens continues to make her presence felt and appears to be getting better and more efficient with each outing. The Aggie transfer outside hitter from Frank Phillips JC finished with 15 kills on 31 swings and had a hitting percentage of .323.

The Aggie middles also had strong outings as Erin Birmingham finished with nine kills on 14 swings with no hitting errors and Kelsey Brennan finished with nine kills on 15 swings with just one hitting error. The duo combined to hit .586 on the match and also had seven block assists combined. Erin also finished with a service ace.

The Aggies now turn their full attention to their next match which is tomorrow night against No. 4 Hawai'i. The Wahine absolutely dominated Louisiana Tech in Ruston on Thursday night winning 25-11, 25-18 and 25-14.

The Aggie soccer team opens up conference play today as they host Boise State in Aggie Memorial Stadium at 7:00 p.m. The Aggies are 5-5 on the season and have played very competitively throughout the non-conference portion of the season. The Aggies lost just twice by more than one goal, both were two goal losses (at Northern Arizona and against a very good West Texas A&M squad). And of the five losses three were on the road at NCAA tournament caliber teams (UTEP, North Texas and Northern Arizona).

The Aggies head into conference play riding a two match win streak and have won five of their past seven matches. Boise State is 3-7-1 all time in conference openers but comes into this match with a 5-3-4 record and a seven match unbeaten streak. Boise State is led by junior forward Shannon Saxton who has five goals and an assist. Freshman forward Erica Parks is second on the squad with three goals and two assists. Boise State is allowing fewer than one goals per match with a .083 goals against average. Boise State is averaging 1.42 goals per match while the Aggies are scoring and allowing 1.40 goals per match. NM State is led in scoring by freshman Crystal Burns who has three goals and one assist. Jazmin Cardosa also has three goals while six other Aggies have put the ball in the net for the team.

Boise State has had two different goal keepers play significant minutes. Both Jennifer Burns and Liz Ruiz have a .833 save percentage. Burns has allowed three goals in 510 minutes while Ruiz has allowed seven goals in 624 minutes. The Aggies have almost exclusively had senior keeper Katie Graul in the net as she's played 872 minutes allowing 14 goals. She holds a save percentage of .821.
