The Aggie soccer team lost in double overtime for the second consecutive match. The Aggies fell 1-0 to visiting Nevada on Senior Night at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The Aggies and Wolf Pack played to a scoreless draw through regulation and the first overtime before Nevada ended the match on a golden goal by Cristen Drummond in the 104th minute. "I think we played well at times, I think they played well at times. They play a pretty disruptive style," said Coach Needham of the Aggies' play. "We could have done a better job of playing soccer a lot of the time. When we did we played very well."

The game winning shot by Nevada was one of the toughest shots to defend as a goal keeper. "I think what happened, the kid hit it well, I think Katie was probably thinking she was going to hit it far post so she started to lean a little bit that way. The kid hit it pretty hard and the ball took a bad bounce to be perfectly honest. It's one of the toughest goals for a goal keeper to make when it bounces two yards in front of you," said Coach Needham. "It was a good finish on their part, it was a good counterattack."

Despite the loss Coach Needham was pleased with the play of his team. "I thought the kids battled and put in a good effort, the soccer could have just been better. We kind of let the rhythm go in their favor because they kind of just wanted to bang it forward and see what happened from there and it was pretty effective."

Aggie senior goal keeper Katie Graul had another strong night even though she picked up the loss. Graul was credited with six saves including a fabulous kick save in the first half that Coach Needham felt kept the Aggies in the match. "She came across the front of the goal and absolutely kept us in the game. That was at a time when they put us under a lot of pressure and floated in a free kick," said Coach Needham. "All things considered that should have been a goal. She makes saves that you would never expect anybody to make and she did a great job on that one."

The Aggies also got significant contributions from other players as well. "We're a little banged up, we've got some injuries. Vanessa Novella comes in and plays in the midfield and does a great job for us. She really did a good job of keeping possession," said Coach Needham.

The Aggies close out the regular season on Sunday in Logan, UT as they face the Utah State Aggies. New Mexico State and Utah State are tied for second place and the winner of the match will earn the No. 2 seed in next week's WAC tournament and with the No. 2 seed they will also earn a first round bye. "We play a really good team on Sunday. Utah State is very good. We'll have to have one heck of an effort up there to beat them and get points out of that game. We're just trying to get better and that's what it's all about."
