The Aggie volleyball team closed out the regular season with a sweep of Fresno State in Fresno, Calif. on Saturday night. The Aggies won set one 25-19 followed by a 25-21 set two victory and a 25-22 set three victory.
The Aggies committed just 14 attack errors in the match and were led by Kayleigh Giddens who finished with a match high 13 kills on 27 swings with just four hitting errors finishing with a .333 hitting percentage. Whitney Woods followed up her 19 kills performance against Nevada with an 11 kill performance against the Bulldogs. Woods hit .409 it the match and committed just two hitting errors while adding three block assists. Krista Altermatt finished with nine kills on 27 swings with four hitting errors and added two assists, two service aces, six digs and two block assists.
Erin Birmingham finished the match with three kills and added five block assists. Kelsey Brennan finished the match with six kills and two block assists. Setter Jennah DeVries finished with 33 assists and five digs.
The Bulldogs were led by Lacey Gera who finished with eight kills on 18 swings with two hitting errors and a .333 hitting percentage. Marissa Brand finished with seven kills on 15 swings with three hitting errors.
With the victory the Aggies improve to 18-8 overall, 13-3 in WAC play and clinched the number two seed in the WAC Tournament and a first round bye. The Aggies will play on Tuesday, November 24 and will face the winner of the No 3./No. 6 match.
