The Daily Aggie :: 12/08/09

Be sure to check out this week's interview with Aggie head women's basketball coach Darin Spence. The Aggies are currently 4-3 on the season and will return to action on Saturday when they take on North Dakota State. The Bison are 5-3 overall on the season and defeated Western Illinois 57-31 last night in a Summit League conference game. They used some tough defense to propel them to victory as they held Western Illinois to just 22 percent shooting and only 15 percent shooting in the second half. The game promises to be a challenging one for the Aggies on Saturday.

Legendary Aggie running back Pervis Atkins is in New York City this week as he along with several other will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. This morning the group of inductees spoke to the media about being inducted and this is the transcript of Pervis' comments (courtesy of the College Football Foundation):
"Boy, it gives us an opportunity to be seen. We've tried. We've given our best on the gridiron, and now it's time to join you guys. The kind of job that you're doing, the reaching out for new football players, and not just simple football players, but guys with sharp educations. Guys that are going to move forward. Guys that are going to give this place a big, big helping."

"This foundation is unreal. It's all over the country. It's moving into other nations and it's going to continue to do that. I'm just so proud and so pleased that I'm one of your inductees. Thank you so much."
