The Daily Aggie :: 01/08/10

The Aggie men's basketball team is back in action tomorrow night when they face Boise State in Boise. The Aggies are coming off a home split in which they defeated Utah State 55-52 but lost to Nevada 77-67. We spoke with head coach Marvin Menzies in this week's interview about those two games and previewed the two upcoming games. Certainly one statistic that sticks out for the Aggies is their +4.0 turnover margin per game. The Aggies had some struggles with turnovers towards the end of non-conference play including a game in which they had 31 turnovers. One other statistic we discussed with Coach Menzies was free throw shooting. Through two games the Aggies have attempted just 20 free throws, third fewest after the opening weekend. Coach Menzies enlightened us to the fact that just getting to the line isn't always as easy as saying "Let's get to the line more often." A lot of it depends on the team you're playing and what defense they choose to play. That being said, we think the Aggies will try to make more of a concerted effort to get to the free throw line.
