Aggie Men's And Women's Hoops Both Notch WAC Victories

The Aggie women's basketball team built a 22-point halftime lead over visiting Hawai'i and then played even with the Wahine in the second half as they went on to win 73-51 to improve to 12-4 overall and 2-0 in WAC play. The Aggies shot 50 percent in the first half en route to building a 42-20 lead. Jasmine Lowe led the Aggies with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting, Madison Spence added 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from behind the three point arc, Danisha Corbett scored 14 and Crystal Boyd scored 11.

The Aggie men's basketball team trailed by four points 45-41 at halftime, but pulled out a thrilling 88-85 victory over Boise State on the road to improve to 9-7 overall and 2-1 in WAC play. Jonathan Gibson led the Aggie offensive explosion with 26 points and Jahmar Young added 19. The Aggies led 81-74 with 3:52 left to play but an 11-0 run by Boise State fueled by Aggie turnovers gave the Broncos an 85-81 lead with 1:46 left to play. Jonthan Gibson would sink a pair of free throws to cut the Aggies deficit to just two points with 1:46 left to play. Jahmar Young would then take over scoring the final five points of the game burying a three pointer with 59 seconds left and then sinking a pair of free throws with 35 seconds left to give the Aggies an 88-85 lead. Anthony Thomas' desperation three pointer did not fall and the Aggies held on for the road victory.
