The Daily Aggie :: 02/17/10

The Aggie women's basketball team is back in action tonight as they host third place Louisiana Tech. The Lady Techsters are 7-3 while the Aggies are 6-5. This is an important game for the Aggies in that the two Idaho schools are right behind the Aggies at 4-6 and Utah State is two games behind the Aggies in the loss column at 4-7. A win tonight by the Aggies would help keep them in the upper half of the league with a head-to-head battle with Idaho looming on Saturday.

The first time the Aggies faced Louisiana Tech they found themselves down 20-3 to start the game, a hole they couldn't quite dig themselves out of. The Aggies did claw back to within four points with four minutes remaining, however, they just weren't able to get over the hump. That game also saw Louisiana Tech shoot 47 free throws and hit 32 of them.

The Bulldogs have three players averaging double-figures in scoring with Shanavia Dowdell leading the way at 18.0 points per game. Adrienne Johnson is averaging 16.3 points per game while Whitney Jones is averaging 11.7. As a team the Lady Techsters are averaging 75.3 points per game while holding their opponents to 63.3 points per game. The Aggies have four players averaging double-figures in scoring with Crystal Boyd and Jasmine Lowe leading the way at 15.1 points per game each. Madison Spence is averaging 11.4 points per game while Danisha Corbett is averaging 10.0 points per game.

The Aggie post players will once again have their hands full with Dowdell and Johnsen and a solid game from new starter Camila Rosen along with fellow starter Tabytha Wampler will be a key for the Aggies to come out with a win tonight.

The Aggies are also hoping to break the all-time attendance record of 4,427 set on February 23, 1988 against UT-San Antonio and tonight has been deemed the "Night of 100 Giveaways" where fans have a chance to win numerous prizes including a trip to Reno for the WAC Basketball Tournament.

The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off and can be seen on AggieVision with Kyle Doperalski calling the action. Streaming audio and streaming video will also be available for tonight's game via Aggie Access.
