Chase is out, J.J. is in. That's the news of the day. However, expect to see a different J.J. McDermott out there on Saturday afternoon. Getting all the reps this week should help him out tremendously.

The WAC men's and women's preseason polls were released yesterday and the coaches picked Utah State as the preseason favorite to win the WAC followed by NMSU and Nevada. The media picked NMSU as their preseason favorite to win the WAC followed by Utah State and Nevada.

On the women's side, Boise State was the preseason favorite for both the coaches and media. NMSU was picked to finish 5th by the coaches and 4th by the media.

Justin Hawkins and Fred Peete were voted Preseason First Team All-WAC teams by the coaches and Justin Hawkins was named First Team All-WAC by the media.

On the women's side, Sherrell Neal was voted Preseason First Team All-WAC by the coaches and also by the Media.

In the preseason player voting, coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.

Don't forget to vote for Chase Holbrook in the Davey O'Brien Award fan voting.

Bryant-Jon Anteola of the Fresno Bee writes that in every WAC football game this weekend, at least one of the two teams playing each other will be starting a different quarterback than the one who started the season. In the NMSU/Louisiana Tech game, it'll be both.
