Ahhhhhhh...August in the Mesilla Valley. It's an exciting time - green chile will soon be roasting, kids are heading back to school and...what's that I see on my calendar? AGGIE VOLLEYBALL!!
Kicking things off is the annual Alumni Game on August 21st at 7pm at the Pan Am Center. It's always fun to see the alums come back and show our current players a thing or two as well as catch up with what they've been doing with their lives.
The following Tuesday, August 24th is the Annual Pre Season Banquet at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum. The social hour begins at 6:30pm, followed by dinner at 7:30pm. The cost is $35 per person or a table for $400 that includes seating for 8 folks and 2 student athletes. You can reserve now by emailing Felicia McCracken at firstname.lastname@example.org or calling Tricia Wright at 646-7714. It's always a fun event.
I won't dissect the schedule because, knowing you wonderful volleyball fans, you've already seen it and written down the dates on your calenders/phones. It's looking to be a great season with some new teams coming for a visit. One thing that I'm looking forward to is seeing the University of Arizona. The team heads out to play in their tournament in mid September and then the Wildcats come for a visit in early October. The Aggies have made an annual spring trek to Tucson for the last 3 years so it's a nice surprise to see them on the schedule.
One other note to make in volleyball land is the news that the NMSU vs Hawaii match at the Pan Am will be televised on ESPNU! The match has been moved from October 1 to September 29th and will start at 8pm. We will definitely need every single Aggie fan in the stands for this one so go ahead and make your plans NOW.
I'll see you at the Pan Am on the 21st!
