The Daily Aggie :: 08/12/10

Media day is today for the football, volleyball and women's soccer teams and all three have started practice for the 2010 season.

Aggie football completed their first day of practice and the NM State athletic website has a video report with Coach Walker.

The Aggie men's basketball team split a pair of exhibition games on Wednesday winning 98-93 in overtime over McGill University and then losing 74-68 to Carleton. We aren't too worried about the loss to Carleton. The Aggies played without four players (McKines and Gillenwater who are not playing at all on this trip and Bandja Sy and Chili Nephewe). The Canadian trio of Hernst Laroche, Christian Kabongo and Tyrone Watson scored 41 of the Aggies' 68 points. Also keep in mind that it was the Aggies' fourth game in two days and the first game on Wednesday went to overtime. That's a lot of basketball in a very short timeframe and there isn't any situation during the season in which the Aggies would ever be playing four games in two days.
