On to today's links...

The Aggie women's basketball team's motto this season is "WAC Championship and beyond". The Aggie women have reached the WAC Tournament finals each of their first two seasons in the WAC and are hoping for their first NCAA Tournament bid since 1988.

The NCAA Clearinghouse has not yet cleared incoming Aggies Herb Pope, Wendell McKines and Jahmar Young. However, Coach Menzies believes that all three will be cleared by late next week.

Shawn Harrison of the Logan Herald Journal reports the Utah State head coach Stew Morrill is not happy with the WAC's decision to turn down ESPN television appearances.

“We just need opportunities in this league,” he said. “We can’t slip and slide, exposure is important. We have given up some TV opportunities over money. If I’m an administrator, I see it differently, we can’t give in and take games for less money. But if I’m a coach, we’ve got to have that TV exposure. We’re silly to turn it down.

“We are turning down five or six ESPN opportunities this year. People don’t know that, but I think they should. We’ve got a couple of ESPN games, and we could have eight. That’s a bad decision on somebody’s part.”

The Aggies participate in three ESPN games, one against Duke on ESPN, at home against Utah State and the Bracketbusters game which will be shown on one of the channels belonging to the ESPN family of networks.

Finally, completely unrelated to Aggie sports but still within the realm of college sports, The U (aka the University of Miami) is revamping their student section for men's basketball games this upcoming season.

“UM will add a hot tub, a sandbox and lifeguard tower in the student seating section. Students will be asked to wear beach attire.”

We'll let you draw your own conclusions.
