The Daily Aggie :: 10/13/07

The Aggie football team takes on Louisiana Tech today in Ruston and are looking to rebound from their 58-0 loss to Boise State on Sunday. The Aggies are without four starters on offense and at least two starters on defense for today's game. This week is also homecoming week for La. Tech. Will this have a factor on the outcome? Your guess is as good as ours but it's never good to be the homecoming opponent for the home team.

J.J. McDermott gets his first career start this week but as we saw from Stanford's Tavita Pritchard last week against USC, sometimes experience doesn't matter. Despite this being his first start, J.J. has seen playing time in four games this season. He took a few snaps in the season opener against Southeastern Louisiana, played the final half of the fourth quarter at Auburn, started the game winning drive against Arkansas-Pine Bluff before Chase came in to finish off the drive and played the majority of last week's game.

Don't underestimate the importance of J.J. taking all the snaps with the first team this week. Coach Mumme told us in our weekly interview with him that the Aggies would need a more conventional approach on offense this week if they were to win the game. That being said, it's probably a safe bet that if the over/under on passes for the Aggie offense was 40, you'd probably be safe taking the over.

The kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. local time (local being Ruston) and the game is available on AggieVision for those of you in the AggieVision viewing area and is also on ESPN Gameplan for those of you who are not.

The Aggie equestrian team was in College Station yesterday to take on the other Aggies, Texas A&M. A&M is a national powerhouse in equestrian and our Aggie squad put up a good fight and narrowly lost 11-9.
