Aggies Rout Broncos 82-51, Send Senior Trio Out With A Victory

The Aggie senior class of Madison Spence, Danisha Corbett and Jasmine Lowe combined to score 53 points as the New Mexico State women's basketball team routed Boise State 82-51 on Senior Day in Las Cruces. The Aggies hit 11-of-18 three point attempts and made 19-of-26 free throws en-route to the victory.

Danisha Corbett sparked the second half blowout scoring 15 of her 21 in the second half as the Aggies turned a seven point halftime lead into a 31 point blowout in the second half. The Broncos cut the Aggies' lead to just three points down 43-40 with 13:44 left to play but the Aggies would outscore the Broncos 39-11 the rest of the way.

The Aggies jumped out to a 16-4 lead on the Broncos through the first 10 minutes of the game. Boise State would cut the Aggies' lead to just five getting back-to-back layups and a jumper from Janie Bos to cut the Aggies' lead to 20-15 with 6:31 left in the half. The Aggies would push their lead out to 15 points getting three pointers from Jasmine Lowe and Madison Spence followed by five straight points to go up 33-18 with 3:09 left to play in the first half. The Aggies would still maintain a 15-point lead with 1:13 left after a layup from Andrea Chenier made the score 37-22 but the Broncos would get back-to-back threes and a pair of free throws from Diana Lee to cut the Aggies' lead to 37-30 at the half.

The Aggies would build their lead to 10 on a three pointer from Madison Spence just under a minute into the second half but the Broncos would respond with a 10-3 run to cut the Aggies' lead to just three at 43-40 with 13:44 left to play. New Mexico State would respond getting a jumper from Madison Spence and a pair of free throws from Tabytha Wampler followed by a 6-0 run by Danisha Corbett to go up 53-40 with 11:05 left to play.

The Broncos would get a three from Lauren Lenhardt to cut the Aggies' lead to 53-43 but Erica Sanchez would bury a three to put the Aggies back up by 13. Lenhardt would hit a pair of free throws to cut the Aggies' lead to 11 at 56-45 with 10:13 left to play but New Mexico State would go on a 16-0 run sparked by threes from Jasmine Lowe and a pair of triples from Danisha Corbett.

Boise State would end the Aggies' run with a basket at the 6:07 mark but the Aggies would outscore Boise State 10-3 over the final six minutes to win 82-51.

New Mexico State held Boise State to 29.1 percent shooting (16-of-55) while hitting 40.6 percent (26-of-64). The Aggies hit 61.1 percent of their three point attempts (11-of-18) while Boise State hit just 26.3 percent (5-of-19). The Aggies out-rebounded the Broncos 43-42 and recored 13 steals forcing 27 Bronco turnovers. The Aggies had 21 assists on their 26 baskets and committed just 13 turnovers.

Melissa Rima led the Broncos with 10 points, Diana Lee chipped in nine and Janie Bos and Lauren Lenhardt scored eight. Danisha Corbett scored a game-high 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting hitting 3-of-6 three pointers and 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Madison Spence finished with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 2-of-3 from the three point arc and 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Jasmine Lowe added 14 points on 5-of-17 shooting hitting 4-of-6 three point shots. Tabytha Wampler scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds while Erica Sanchez scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds and hit a pair of threes.

The Aggies improve to 13-17 overall and finish 7-9 in WAC play, tied for 5th with the Idaho. New Mexico State earns the 6-seed will take on 7-seed Hawai'i on Wednesday night in the first round of the WAC tournament.
