HONOLULU, HI - What was supposed to be a thrilling match between two top 15 teams turned out to be a one-sided affair. NMSU came into the match looking to avenge their only conference loss of the season, left having been swept 3-0 by #11 Hawai'i.

The Aggies were behind by nine points in the first game at 24-15, then battled back to within two points at 28-26 but couldn't sustain the comeback, losing 30-26.

In game two the NMSU trailed early 8-4 but battle back to tie the game at 8 points apiece. The two teams went back and forth as the game was tied at 15 all. Hawai'i would pull away briefly going up 25-20 before the Aggies came back to tie the match at 28. However, a service error by Kim Oguh who served the ball into the net would give Hawai'i at 29-28 lead and Hawai'i would win the next point to take the game 30-28 and head into the intermission up 2-0.

Game three started as a back and forth battle with the two teams trading points to 9 before NMSU took a 10-9 lead. The lead was short lived and the Wahine would go on a 9 point run and take the lead 18-10. The Aggies battled back to within two points at 20-18 but Hawai'i would prove to be too much, going on to win the game 30-22 and the match 3-0.

The sweep by the Wahine was only the second sweep NMSU had suffered at the hands of a conference opponent since joining the WAC, a streak of 47 consecutive matches. The Aggies were swept by Utah State in their very first conference match. On the flip side, the Aggies have swept 25 opponents during that span.

Lindsey Yon led the Aggies with 15 kills and 2 blocks and 7 digs but had 10 attack errors. Krista Altermatt had 10 kills and 9 digs but 9 attack errors. Kim Oguh and Anna Callis each tallied 7 kills and had 1 attack error each.

For Hawai'i it was the Jaime Houston show (for the Aggies, the Jaime Houston nightmare). Houston had a spectacular night getting 19 kills against only two attack errors (.472 hitting percentage). She also had 9 digs and 6 blocks.

The Aggies return to action on Tuesday as they take on I-10 rival UTEP at 7:00 p.m. in El Paso.
