MESA, AZ - The New Mexico State women's golf team made a hard charge at the end of the Club Glove WAC Women's Golf Championship to finish second, just two-strokes out of first, at the Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., Sunday, April 17.

The Aggies finished with a three round score of 886 to mark the third time in six years NM State finished second at the WAC Championship. However, the Aggies were able to bring home plenty of hardware as senior Suteera (Pang) Chanachai and freshman Demi Mak earned first team All-WAC honors, while coaches Paul Brilliant and Jackie Booth were named WAC Co-Coaches of the Year. Mak also earned Freshman of the Year honors, while she and senior Apinporn (Mint) Swaschuto tied for fourth with an 8-over-par 221.

"We started a little sluggish in the morning, but we made a push in the back nine and made things interesting," Brilliant said. "I am proud of our team and proud of the honors we have received. All the time and work this team has put in is showing."

All five Aggie golfers finished in the top 15 as senior Lauren (Buz) Bowerman-Ritchie came in 7th just one stroke behind Mak and Swaschuto and junior Ashley Elias tied for 9th with a 12-over-par 225. Chanachai tied for 14 as she carded a 228 with her best round coming on Sunday carding a 2-over-par 73.
