Tim Madigan Wins 65th Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, CA - New Mexico State senior Tim Madigan left as the medalist at the 65th annual Western Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament at the challenging par 70, 6,615-yard Pasatiempo Golf Course.

Madigan was the only player in the 92-player field who matched or was under par for all three rounds. He carded a three-round score of 3-under par, 207 with an even par, 70 in the final round, which saw Madigan fire three birdies. This is the second tournament win for Madigan this season.

As a team, the Aggies finished eighth overall with a three-round score of 48-over par, 1098. NM State carded a final round team score of 11-over par, 361.

Junior Zachery Fullerton and sophomore Justin Shin both tied for 47th overall at 12-over par, 222. Both Fullerton and Shin carded a final round score of 2-over par, 72. Junior Gaston De La Torre was 6-over par, 76 in the final round and finished tied for 57th at 15-over par, 225.

Junior Joon Lee fired his low round of the tournament with a 1-over par, 71. Lee finished tied for 68th at 18-over par, 228. Freshman Collin Pratt had an 8-over par, 78 on the last day of play, finishing at 19-over par, 229, finishing 70th overall.

UCLA won the team title at 16-over par, followed by Southern California (+24), Oregon (+26), Augusta State (+26) and San Diego State (+35).

The Aggies will now prepare to defend their 2010 WAC Championship at the 2011 WAC Championships May 2-4.
