The Aggie softball team plays Loyola Marymount today in a single game. The Lions are 24-24 on the season but don't let their record fool you. They've won eight of their past 11 games and took national champion UCLA down to the wire losing by just a single run earlier this month. LMU also split with Boise State earlier this season as well as earning a split against Minnesota (the Aggies took two from Minnesota). LMU also participated in the prestigious Cathedral City Classic playing games against Tennessee, Texas, Indiana and Arizona. Even though they lost all four of those games they will definitely not be intimidated.
LMU has five players batting over .300 and have a pair of double-digit home run hitters in Sam Fischer (11) and Kelly Sarginson (13). They are also very solid in the circle with a team ERA of 2.89. The Lions' ace is Milly Medeiros who in 32 appearances has 18 starts and 13 complete games with two complete game shutouts. She's 11-7 with a 2.21 ERA and has allowed just 61 runs and opponents are batting just .254 against her.
Today's game will definitely be a huge challenge for the Aggies and LMU will no doubt be anxious to knock off the Aggies and add a quality win to their resume. This is a good test for the Aggies and should keep them sharp in preparation for this weekend's series at Hawai'i.
Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (MT) with Live Stats available via the LMU athletic website.
