LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Senior Arthur Surreaux was selected to compete by the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Subcommittee to compete in the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships.

Surreaux will enter the singles bracket, containing 64 of the top singles players in Division I tennis. Surreaux is the lone representative from the entire Western Athletic Conference.

The NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championships will take place May 25-30 at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.

Surreaux finished the regular season with a 21-15 overall record in singles and a 19-13 overall record in doubles. Surreaux played a majority of his singles matches at the No. 1 spot for NM State, going 6-12 at the position.

In the fall of 2010, Surreaux went 15-2 in singles and 10-2 in doubles, winning two separate titles for singles and one for doubles. Surreaux was crowned champion in the singles and doubles bracket of the Aggie Invitational held in Las Cruces on Sept. 12 and won the singles bracket of the Baylor Invitational on September 26. Surreaux's efforts in the fall earned him the title of WAC Player of the Month for September 2010.

Automatic qualification into the Division I singles championships was awarded to any conference with one or more eligible singles players ranked in the ITA Top 125 for eligible/entered singles players. For conferences with more than one singles player within the ITA Top 125, the NCAA subcommittee applied the NCAA selection criteria to determine which student-athlete was the automatic qualifier from those conferences. All singles players must have a record of a minimum of 13 completed singles matches in order to be selected as an automatic qualifier or an at-large selection.
