Aggie Softball Headed To Tucson For First NCAA Regional Appearance

After winning the 2011 WAC Tournament the New Mexico State softball team learned their destination on Sunday night as the 2011 NCAA Division I Softball Championship Tournament field was announced. New Mexico State will head west down I-10 to Tucson as they earned a 3-seed in the Tucson Regional and will face Big 12 at-large and 2-seed Texas Tech (40-14, 5-13) on Friday.

Also in the Tucson Regional are host Arizona which is the number one seed in the region and the number eight national seed. Arizona will face Ivy League champion Harvard which is the 4-seed in the regional.

The regional is a four-team double elimination tournament.

Game times for Friday are Texas Tech vs. New Mexico State at 5:00 p.m. (MT), followed by Harvard vs. Arizona at 7:30 p.m. (MT).

The winners will meet Saturday in game three at 3:00 p.m. (MT) followed by game four featuring Friday's losers at 5:30 p.m. (MT). The loser of game three and winner of game four play at 8:00 p.m. (MT) Saturday.

Sunday's regional championship begins at 1:00 p.m. (MT) with the if necessary game at 3:00 p.m. (MT)
