LUBBOCK, TX - In the first-ever meeting against a Big 12 opponent, the New Mexico State soccer team fell at Texas Tech, 1-0.

"That was a great team, a top 50 team," head coach Blair Quinn said. "We played as well as we could have for the second away game of the year, but there are some things we need to get better at."

Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Wosick directed the Aggie defense with a season-high seven saves. Offensively, junior forward Yolanda McMillion led NM State with a pair of shot attempts. Sophomore midfielder Mary Kate Koziol and freshman forward Katelynn Tupponce also posted their first shots of the season.

Texas Tech scored the lone goal of the match in the 29th minute of action, when Taylor Lytle hit a shot to the far post.

"The back line was much better," Quinn said. "The midfielders did a great job of handling their midfield. I thought we handled the physicality of the game better. Overall, we're frustrated with a loss but we definitely got better."

The Aggies return to Las Cruces to host Prairie View A&M in the home opener, Friday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. and Houston Baptist, Sunday, Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. inside Aggie Memorial Stadium.
