Jene Coppedge's Aggie Volleyball Diary :: August 30th, 2011

Jene CoppedgeHello all! My name is Jene Coppedge and I am going to be providing weekly updates with the inside scoop on Aggie Volleyball for all you wonderful fans this season!

A little bit about myself to begin with, I am a sophomore defensive specialist from right here in Las Cruces, New Mexico and am immensely enjoying my time with this team already and the season has just begun. We have great chemistry and are so pumped to finally be kicking the season off.

As most of you know we just got back from the Lobo Classic tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico where we took on Nebraska and South Florida. Although the ending result wasn’t exactly what we had hoped for against Nebraska, we are still very encouraged by glimpse of the potential we have for this season.

One of our starting outside hitters, freshman Bradley Nash, went down in the third game against Nebraska with a knee injury. This has really taken its toll on our team and our thoughts and prayers go out to her daily. We are just praying for a speedy and healthy recovery for Brad! We miss having her out on the court!

After we finished up in Albuquerque we headed right back home to prepare for our first home opener game against Nicholls State on Sunday evening. It was a good win for our team and now, after having the day off on Monday to rest our bodies, we are getting back to the grind.

This week is all about making big strides for us as we prepare to take on LSU this weekend at our home tournament. We are refocusing this week and working hard to improve from the weekend. Coach Jordan is really stressing to us that we need to be taking a step forward as a team every day, and that is what we are really trying to key in on this week!

We have much room for improvement and it is important that we are very productive with the time we have to do so. I hope to see you all this weekend cheering us on at our home tournament! Have a wonderful week and God Bless! GO AGGIES!
