Aggie Women's Golf Finishes 15th At Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic

FORT COLLINS, CO - The New Mexico State women's golf team finished 15th at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic coming in with a 309 in the final round of play, Tuesday, Sept. 13.

NM State finished ahead of WAC foe Nevada, while UC-Davis took home the Ram Fall Classic Title finishing with a three-round score of 873. Illinois and Colorado tied for second place in the 19-team field with an 875.

"There were some tough pins on this course this year and yesterday we struggled a bit," co-head coach Jackie Booth said. "It's early in the season and we are learning some valuable lessons."

Senior Ashley Elias led the way for NM State on the par-72, Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. She finished the tournament with a 226 (72-79-75) to tie for 33rd. Elias carded 31 pars and eight birdies during the three rounds of play.

Sophomore Demi Mak, who tallied an ace on hole No. 6, Sept. 12, finished tied for 38th with a 227 (73-77-77). Overall, Mak played consistent with 34 pars, five birdies and a hole-in-one.

Sophomore Mieke Canan came in tied for 64th with a 235 (81-76-78) and junior Aileen Meredith was two strokes behind with a 237 (80-78-79) to finish 73rd. Sophomore Lindsay Reeve rounded out the Aggie lineup with a 259 (86-87-86) to finish 93rd.

The Aggies next tournament will be Sept. 19-21 at the Golfweek's Conference Challenge in Vail, Colo. That tournament features the top team from each conference in the country.
