MOSCOW, ID - The No.13 New Mexico State volleyball team swept Idaho (30-27, 30-24, 30-17) at Memorial Gym in Moscow, Idaho, Saturday, Nov. 3 for their consecutive sweep of the week.

Led by senior Kim Oguh (El Paso, Hanks HS) who had 16 kills and hit .344 on the night, head coach Mike Jordan was very pleased to get another sweep. Three other Aggies had double-digit kills as juniors Amber Simpson (Quincy, Ill.), Lindsey Yon (San Antonio, Texas) and sophomore Krista Altermatt (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) all had 10 kills.

"Kim (Oguh) and Amber (Simpson) were able to do as well as they did because our setters fed them the ball well," Jordan said. "It's great to come on the road and pick up a sweep, especially against a good team like Idaho."

Junior Krystal Torres (Las Cruces, Mayfield HS) played excellent defensive as usual with a match high 17 digs, while freshman setter Brynja Rodgers (Iowa City, Iowa) and junior setter Alyssa Gintant (Libertyville, Ill.) had 21 and 20 assists respectively.

The Aggies started the match off slow, but they were led by Oguh to come from behind to tie game one up at 19-19. With NMSU on a run the Vandals were forced to call a timeout at 23-21. The game was tied up one more time at 27-27, but with a kill by Yon a two errors by the WAC kills leader Haley Larson, NMSU pulled out the 30-27 victory.

"We weren't very good in a couple of side out patterns at the beginning of the game, but we made some adjustments and were able to get the win," Jordan said.

In game two the Vandals started off on fire with a 7-1 lead, but NMSU showed heart and went on a big run to tie the game at 10 a piece. It was back and forth until a 16-16 tie when the Aggies 9-3 run that started with two consecutive kills from Oguh. The momentum stayed with NMSU as they won 30-24.

Coach Jordan must have given a good talk during the intermission as the Aggie came out in game three to take an early 10-4 lead. NMSU kept rolling as the lead was as much as 27-13. NMSU glided to 30-17 win.

The Aggies will play their last regular season road match when they take on Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La., Thursday, Nov. 8.
