bleedCrimson.net: Your thoughts on the match this past Saturday at Louisiana Tech?
Mike Jordan: I think we did some good things. I thought we were pretty efficient attacking in stretches but ball control broke down a bit at times. As a coach you can be picky when you win. I think now that it's getting later in the season I expect better performances from a consistency standpoint. I think we do a lot of good things, we just need to do it for longer stretches. I think the team understands that too. We did what we needed to do to win and we had some good performances from some people but we want to be a little bit more consistent from beginning to end.
bc.net: This week you head out on the road to take on Utah State and Idaho, a difficult road trip for sure and this year maybe even a little more difficult as you'll be in four different hotels in four nights on this trip.
MJ: It's not the easiest trip, it's not my favorite trip or sure but we're playing two very good opponents. Utah State from what I understand will be getting Josselyn White back. She's an all-conference outside hitter that they've been missing for quite a few weeks now. She's a big difference maker. She's a good player and obviously they're playing at home and I'm sure it'll be a very good match.
Idaho is playing very well. The one match they lost to San Jose they didn't have Allison Walker who is arguably their best player. But they really beat up on Utah State a couple weeks ago. They've been playing very well. They played Hawai'i close. They got swept in Hawai'i but they played the close, every game was 25-23 or 25-22 so I think the team is playing very well and they've got a lot of talent. That place of theirs is a tough place to play. It'll be senior night and their Dig Pink night so obviously it'll be their best crowd of the season and we're going to have to play exceptionally well to win.
bc.net: Both of those teams are pretty good blocking teams and you did a good against them in the first matches with both in Las Cruces. What adjustments to you think they might make based on the way you played against them?
MJ: I don't know that Idaho will do much different. I think they pretty much play the same style all the time as does Utah State. At this point I don't think you make a ton of adjustments. They've got personnel and they may change a side out pattern here or there and try to set away from certain players a little bit more often but not much. I don't think there's going to be a lot of surprises at this point.
bc.net: What are some things that you'll be working on this week with your team as you start to head down the home stretch of the regular season?
MJ: We're trying to improve our team defense, especially our floor defense. I think the quality of dig has to improve for us. I think our blocking has been improving, obviously we'd still like to get better. More than anything it's just shoring things up and trying to become more consistent. It sounds cliche but it's true. We've got a little bit of depth at a couple of positions and no depth at a couple of others and we're trying our hardest to try to get everybody ready to play should we need them.
