Aggie Soccer Defeats Hawai'i 1-0 On Senior Day, Earn Final Spot In WAC Tournament

The New Mexico State soccer team earned their first every victory on Senior Day as they defeated the visiting Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine 1-0 behind a goal in the 51st minute by freshman Bree Luhrsen. Jessica Schutter recorded a pair of saves in the shutout victory which marked the first time in conference play this season the Wahine have been held scoreless as the Wahine came into the match averaging 2.6 goals per match in WAC play.

The Aggie victory coupled with a 2-1 victory by Fresno State over Nevada secured the Aggies' spot in the WAC Tournament being held next week in Fresno, Calif.

The Aggies out-shot the Wahine 13-5 and recorded seven shots on goal versus just two for UH. The Aggies also recorded eight corner kicks and did not allow a corner kick by Hawai'i the entire match and it marked the first time in conference play that the Aggies have not allowed a corner kick by an opponent.

The Aggies will be the 6-seed in the WAC Tournament and will take on the 3-seed on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. (MT). All tournament matches will be streamed live on WAC.tv for a fee.
