Christopher Huff Added To Cross Country And Track And Field Coaching Staff

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Head cross country and track and field coach Orin Richburg recently added Christopher Huff to assist the coaching staff with the upcoming indoor and outdoor track season.

Huff will be assisting in coaching the cross country teams, as well as the distance runners for the track and field team.

Huff's most recent coaching experience stems from New England College where he was the head coach for cross country from 2005-07. During his three-year tenure at New England College, Huff led his team to one Commonwealth Coast Conference championship and helped break nine school records in track and field. Huff also coached two CCC Rookie of the Year athletes and five CCC All-Conference athletes.

Huff began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach for cross country and track and field at Southern Arkansas University from 2001-02. In just under two years Huff helped lead his athletes to break nine different school records.

As an undergrad, Huff first ran cross country and track at Wayne State College from 1991-93. Huff qualified for the NCAA North Central Region Championships in 1991 and 1992 while at Wayne State College. Huff then transferred to Morningside College, where he continued to compete in cross country and track and field from 1993-95. Huff qualified for the NCAA Central Region Championships in 1993 and 1994 in cross country.

After graduating from Morningside College, Huff proceeded to participate in various marathons across the country. Huff has run in the Chicago Marathon (1999, 2001, 2002), the Lincoln Marathon (2002, 2003), the Boston Marathon (2008), and the New York City Marathon (2009).

Huff currently runs for Saucony Shoes through their grass-routes Saucony Hurricane Program and Darn Tough Socks.
