WACO, TX - The nationally ranked New Mexico State baseball team (30-12) fell to No. 3 Baylor (37-8) 5-0 at Baylor Ballpark in Waco, Texas, Friday, April 27.

The game was 0-0 through five and a half innings before the Bears finally got to Aggie starting pitcher Ryan Beck in the bottom of the sixth. Baylor tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth one in the seventh and another in the eighth and completed the shutout using three pitchers. NM State used six pitchers on the evening including right hander's Tyler Mack, Michael Ormseth and Randy Montoya along with lefties Robert Kraft and Trey Ross.

Beck finished the evening going six innings and picked up six strikeouts, while the Bears' starting pitcher, Josh Turley, had a no-hitter going until Aggie senior leftfielder Tanner Waite picked up a single down the leftfield line. Turley, a potential All-American and finalist for a pitcher of the year award, tallied five K's, two walks and hit two batters.

NM State threatened in the top of the ninth getting two runners aboard with one out but third baseman Robert Lecount went down looking and sophomore Tanner Rust popped out in foul territory to end the ball game.

NM State finished the day with three hits and committed two errors. The error that came in the seventh was costly as a Baylor base runner moved from second to third before scoring on a sacrifice fly. This was the first time the Aggies were shutout since losing to Nevada 4-0, April 22, 2011.

The Aggies and Bears meet again, Saturday, April 28 at 11:05a.m. (MT), in Waco, Texas. The game is scheduled to air on the radio in Las Cruces on KSNM AM 570 with Jeff Matthews giving the play-by-play.
