LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State Equestrian head coach Audrey Buck announced the signing of three additional student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Julianna Ball will join the Hunter Seat squad, while Courtney Cruse and Rianna Storey joins the Western line up.

"We are excited to be adding these young ladies to our program," head coach Audrey Buck said. "They will add great talent to our roster. We realize they have many options when selecting a school, but we are proud that they have chosen to ride and spend their college career at NM State.”

Primarily focusing her attention in the jumper arena, Ball, a native of Malibu, Calif., has been competing nationally and internationally for the past nine years. Under the tutelage of Karen Healey, Ball has won numerous championships on the west coast. She has also had the opportunity to train yearly with Argentina’s Fernando Martinez-Zuviria. Ball was winner of the Nation's Childrens Cup (1.25m) in Argentina in 2008 and 2009 and has wins in the women's jumping competitions at Club San Jorge Village, Cordoba Jockey Club, Club Hipico Argentina, and Club Aleman, Buenos Aires.

“I am excited to bring in Juliana Ball to compete on the hunter seat team,” Buck said. “Not only is she a confident and talented rider in the jumper arena, she is an outstanding young woman with a huge heart for helping those in need in the community. Juliana will be an excellent addition to the 2012-2013 Equestrian team.”

Cruse hails from Pilot Point, Texas and has multiple top awards with the Appaloosa Horse Club. She was the 2011 National High Point All-Around Non Pro rider for the Appaloosa Horse Club while also securing high point titles in Western Horsemanship, Trail, Western Pleasure, and Hunter Under Saddle. She claimed 3rd place honors in Horsemanship and Western Riding at the 2011 Appaloosa World Championship, while picking up top ten honors in Western Pleasure, Trail, and Hunt Seat Equitation. Cruse also garnered top ten finishes in trail and western riding at the 2011 Appaloosa National Championship. A strong competitor, Cruse earned her Non Pro Supreme Championship from the Appaloosa Horse Club. Cruse is the daughter of Steve Cruse and Karen Scarberry.

"Courtney will be a great addition to our program." Morris Walters said. “Coming from a family of professional horse trainers Courtney has had the opportunity to ride different horses on a regular basis and show consistently. She has multiple top finishes on the Appaloosa circuit and will be transferring from North Central Texas College. We look forward to great things from Courtney and are proud she will be joining the team."

Storey, a native of Cambridge Ontario has been a very successful rider at the top level of the AQHA show circuit in the all-around events. She was the 2010 AQHA Youth World Cup Silver Medalist in Horsemanship and placed 6th in the Hunt Seat Equitation while riding for the Canadian team. A regular participant at the All American Quarter Horse Congress, Storey has multiple top ten placings and one Congress Champion title in Showmanship. Storey is the three time All-Around Youth for the Ontario Quarter Horse Association and has earned the AQHA Youth Performance Champion award on two different horses. She is a multiple qualifier to the AQHYA World Championship Show and earned the prestigious AQHA Youth Supreme Champion title. Storey will be riding for Team Canada again this year at the 2012 AQHA Youth World Cup, which will be held this summer in Kreuth, Germany. Storey is also on the Glenview Park Honour Roll. She is the daughter of Randy and Robyn Storey.

"I am thrilled that Rianna has chosen to ride for NM State and we are excited for her to join the squad in the fall," assistant coach Robin Morris Walters said. "Rianna has extensive show experience at many top level events and has ridden for her native Canada in the AQHA Youth World Cup, which is very similar to our competition format. I am confident she will transition to collegiate riding with ease and will make a significant impact on our horsemanship squad."
