LaSasha Aldredge Named WAC Athlete Of The Week

DENVER, CO - LaSasha Aldredge from the New Mexico State University track and field team was named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 1-7 as of a result of her performance at the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational this weekend.

Aldredge, a senior from Fresno, Calif. (Central East H.S.), set new top overall conference marks in the 200m and the 400m over the weekend when she finished first overall in the 400m with a time of 52.59 and sec­ond overall in the 200m with a time of 23.57. Aldredge’s time in the 400m is now a new overall school record and ranks sixth in the NCAA. Her time in the 200m places her second all-time for NM State. In the 4x100m, Aldredge helped the Aggies place first overall with a time of 45.34, which ranks first in the con­ference and third all-time in the NM State record books. In the 4x400m, Aldredge also helped the Aggies finish first overall in that event with a time of 3:45.51 to place eighth all-time for NM State.

This is the first time an Aggie has been named WAC Athlete of the Week for the 2013 outdoor season. In the indoor season, two different Aggies were named WAC Athlete of the Week. Junior Alishia Perkins received the honor on Jan. 16 and Brianna Cromartie received the honor on Jan. 31.
