LAS VEGAS, NV - The New Mexico State soccer team ended the UNLV Nike Invitational with a split 1-1 record after falling to Portland State, 7-0. The Aggies slipped to 2-2-0 overall on the season.

The Aggie offense fired eight shots with five shots on goal, which are both second-best marks of the season, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Schutter played the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Tayler Hammack made her Aggie debut in the second period and recorded her first career save.

Head coach Blair Quinn said he was disappointed with the Aggies’ performance in the tournament finale.

“It was embarrassing,” he said. “It was the worst team performance that I’ve seen since I’ve been a college coach, and we have a lot of work to do.”

The Aggies return to Las Cruces for a pair of home games next weekend. NM State hosts Stephen F. Austin, Friday, Sept. 6, and UC Riverside, Sunday, Sept. 8.
