MOSCOW, ID - The New Mexico State soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss at Idaho. The Aggies fell to 4-6-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the WAC, while the Vandals moved to 2-7-0 and 2-0-0 in WAC play.

“It was an unfortunate loss,” head coach Blair Quinn said. “We played very good soccer. It was one of our better games. We scored two really nice goals coming from a goal down each time.”

The Vandals scored first to a take a 1-0 lead in the 21st-minute of action. The Aggies answered five minutes later, when junior forward Jennae Cambra scored her first goal of the season from 20-yards away to tie the match at 1-1. Idaho had a 2-1 lead at halftime after a goal in the 36th minute.

Quinn said he was encouraged with his team’s play on the road especially with senior midfielder Olivia Sierra, who is anchoring the center of the field for the Aggies.

In the second half, the Aggies evened the score at 2-2 with a goal from junior forward Layla Todd. She recorded her third score of the year, which is a team-high mark, on an assist from junior midfielder Katie Smith in the 52nd minute.

The Vandals reclaimed the lead with a goal in the 64th minute for a 3-2 advantage.

The Aggies continue their road trip at Seattle U, Sunday, Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.
