LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State swimming and diving head coach Rick Pratt announced the hiring of assistant coach Kyle Bogner to the team as the new diving coach on Monday.

“Bogner brings a great level of enthusiasm and passion for diving to our program,” Pratt said. “He has competed at a high level himself and has the knowledge and energy to take our program to the next level. His experience at the college and club level has provided him a strong background to be an amazing diving coach for us here at NM State. I could not be more pleased with this addition to our staff and am really looking forward to getting to work with him.”

Bogner is a native of the Denver area, graduating from Littleton High School located in Centennial, Colo., in 2007. While at Littleton, Bogner lettered all four years in diving, was the team captain as a junior and senior and qualified for the state tournament three of the four seasons he was there.

After high school, Bogner went on to attend the University of Wyoming where he made an immediate impact, winning the Mountain West Conference (MWC) 1-meter championship as a freshman. For his accomplishments, Bogner was named University of Wyoming Diver of the Year.

Bogner would go on to letter all four years at Wyoming while advancing to the NCAA Zone “E” Diving Championships during his sophomore, junior and senior years. He would go on to graduate from Wyoming in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in communications, leaving the school as the Wyoming and MWC record holder for the 1-meter dive (403.20).

Bogner spent the 2011-12 season as the diving coach at Northern Michigan under former Aggie assistant swim coach Heidi Voigt. While at Northern Michigan, he received a graduate certificate in Performance Improvement. He also received his master’s degree in administration from Cal-State Bakersfield in 2013.

Apart from his college experience Bogner has also been diving and coaching for the Mile High Dive Club under its founder Jack Perkins. The Mile High Club is one of the premier diving clubs in the western United States.

Bogner will take over for former diving coach Molly Parker who resigned to become the new academic coordinator for NM State after two years as the Aggies’ diving coach.

“We were fortunate and proud to have had coach Parker as our diving coach for the past two seasons,” Pratt said. “It is sad to not have her on deck, but we are excited for what the future holds for her and her family in this new role with the department.”
