Aggie Volleyball To Face Arizona In First Round Of NCAA Tournament

On Sunday night the New Mexico State volleyball team learned their first round opponent for the NCAA Tournament. The WAC's regular season and tournament champions will head to San Diego to face regional rival Arizona (20-12) from the Pac-12 on Friday, December 6, 2013 with the match time set for 5:00 p.m. (MT).

With a 22-10 record overall, the Aggies will be making their second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and the seventh overall in program history. The Aggies have one prior win in the NCAA tournament, a 3-1 victory over St. Mary's (CA) in 2008. The Wildcats are making their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2011.

The two teams have faced each on thirteen occasions with Arizona winning all thirteen matchups with the latest coming in the 2010 season, a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 26-24) sweep by Arizona.

The winner of the match will face the winner of the No. 9 seed San Diego/UC- Santa Barbara match. The Aggies faced UCSB earlier this season in Berkeley, Calif. at the Cal Molten Classic. The Aggies lost the match in five sets, 25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 25-17, 13-15.
