Aggies Earn 13 Seed, Face 4-Seed San Diego State In Spokane

Fresh off of winning heir third consecutive WAC tournament title, the New Mexico State men's basketball team (26-9) learned their seed during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on Sunday afternoon. The Aggies were sent to Spokane for the third time in their last five NCAA Tournament trips where they will face 4-seed San Diego State on Thursday, March 20th. The Aztecs (29-4) won the Mountain West regular season title with a 16-2 conference record but fell in the MWC Tournament championship game 64-58 to New Mexico.

It is SDSU's school-record fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance while it is the Aggies' third consecutive trip and fourth in five seasons.

The Aztecs average 70.6 points per game and are led by MWC Player of the Year Xavier Thames who averages 16.8 points per game. Sophomore forward Winston Shepard is the only other Aztec averaging double figures in scoring at 12.1 points per game.

The game is the final game of the day in Spokane and will tip off approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Oklahoma/North Dakota State matchup which will tip off at 5:27 p.m. MDT. The game will be televised on truTV and can be seen in Las Cruces on channel 830 (HD) on Comcast, channel 246 (HD) on DirecTV and channels 242 (HD) and 9430 (HD) on Dish Network.
