LAS CRUCES, N.M. - New Mexico State soccer fell 3-0 to Houston Baptist Friday, Aug. 29, at the NM State soccer complex.

“We weren’t able to keep possession of the ball or complete a simple pass during the first half of the game, unfortunately,” head coach Freddy Delgado said. “We have to see better play from our goal keeper and our backline as a whole.”

NM State allowed two goals to slip by during the first half of the game.

During the final minutes of the first half, NM State tipped the ball into their own goal to bring the score to 2-0 for Houston Baptist. The final goal came in the beginning of the second half of the game, bringing the score to 3-0.

“We have been working with our backs and goalkeeper specifically for better organization, clearance and 50/50 balls. We’re plugging away but we have to make sure what we are instructing shows on the field,” Delgado said.

Overall, NM State attempted 10 shots compared with Houston Baptist with 12.

The Aggies face Incarnate Word on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the NM State Soccer Complex at 1:00 p.m.
