BAKERSFIELD, CA - Layla Todd and Jennae Cambra each tallied a goal in the first half, however, the Aggies couldn’t overcome Bakersfield’s second-half rally and dropped a 4-2 decision Sunday afternoon in Western Athletic Conference.

It didn’t take long for the Aggies to find pay dirt. At 9:43 in the first half Cambra delivered a perfect pass to Todd, who was standing at the top of the box, and fired a shot past the Bakersfield goalkeeper to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead.

However, less than one minute later Jess Moorehead scored to tie it at 1-1.

At 22:28 Alexys Brownell made a nice one-touch pass to Cambra who easily beat the goalkeeper and NM State went into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Bakersfield (4-13-1, 3-5 WAC) tied the game at 54:29 in the second half when Taylor Wheeler scored on a cross in front of the goal and 12 minutes later Hedda Regefalk scored from five yards out to give Bakersfield its first lead of the game.

Regefalk added a second goal at 85:59 to close out the match.

Cambra finished with a game-high five shots.

NM State (3-16, 2-7 WAC) closes out its regular season against Texas-Pan American on Friday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. at the Soccer Athletic Complex. It’s also Senior Day for the Aggies.
