LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The New Mexico State University Athletics Director Dr. McKinley Boston announced the reinstatement of Aggie Soccer coach Freddy Delgado effective immediately.

Delgado had been placed on administrative leave on Oct. 14.

“A thorough investigation by units outside of the athletic department has determined that Coach Delgado was operating the women’s soccer team within NCAA rules and the investigation has no findings,” said Boston. “Coach Delgado will continue as head coach of the women’s soccer program.”

Boston added that any allegations against a program are taken in a very serious matter.

“The NMSU administration under President (Garrey) Carruthers is committed to managing Title IX under the Federal SaVE Act. It requires NMSU to facilitate due process to determine that the rights of student-athletes have not been violated.”

Boston also stated, “The coaching profession in the 21st Century is very different than it used to be and presents different challenges for coaches to manage.”

“It used to be ‘my way or the highway.’ However, that is not the case anymore, and the culture shift now includes debate and analysis of what is appropriate behavior for coaches and what is not.”

“We welcome Coach Delgado back to duty.”
