LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Senior Kim Oguh was named to the AVCA All West-Region team for the third consecutive year, while junior Amber Simpson was named to the honorable mention team as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Oguh (El Paso, Hanks HS), a 2007 first team All-WAC selection, finished the year with 376 kills (3.33/g), and a team leading 141 total blocks (1.25/g). She was fourth in the conference in hitting percentage with a .325 hitting percentage. Oguh also had 36 service aces on the year.

"We're very proud Kim and she had a fantastic career," head coach Mike Jordan said. "There are few players that have ever been first team all-region region three straight years, and I'm especially proud at what she did this year with new, young, inexperienced setters. She was still able to lead the team and perform match after match."

Simpson (Quicny, Ill.), also a first-team All-WAC selection, finished the season second in the conference in hitting percentage with a .345 hitting percentage. She led the Aggies in that category for the second straight year. Simpson ended the 2007 season with 324 kills (2.84/g)

"Amber had a good season as well and we're proud of her," Jordan said "She also has the ability to make all-American next year if she continues to improve and work hard. We're looking forward to what she can do for us next year."

Oguh and Simpson were also named to the WAC all-Tournament team, Nov. 17.

Oguh is now eligible to be an all-American, which, if selected, will give her a third all-American honor when the AVCA releases its selections later this month.
