FORT WALTON BEACH, FL - NM State football offensive lineman Andy Cunningham has been selected to the 2015 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List as announced by the All Sports Association on Wednesday.

The Wuerffel Trophy, known as “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service” is awarded to the FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.

Cunningham is a four-year starter and has played every position on the offensive line. He played in the first six games of the 2014 season before being sidelined due to injury for the second time in his collegiate career. Prior to his injury, the Frisco, Texas native helped anchor an offensive line that allowed Tyler Rogers to throw for 1,471 yards and Larry Rose III to rush for 290 yards in the first half the season.

Additionally, Cunningham spends time volunteering in the local community. He helps head coach Doug Martin with the Doug Martin Kid’s Clinic, attends field days for local elementary schools and reads to children during Dr. Seuss Day at the local library.

Cunningham, who is majoring in criminal justice, was also named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List for achieving a 3.5 or higher GPA during the 2014-15 academic school year.
