LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State softball team completed the series sweep of Seattle U as they captured a 2-0 win and a 5-0 victory in games one and two of the double header on Saturday at the NM State Softball Complex. The Aggies shutout the Redhawks on Friday night with a 12-0 win in the series opener.

Game One

The Aggies (23-16, 3-0 WAC) scored two runs and racked up two RBIs on four hits. Victoria Castro went 1-for-2, scored one run and had one RBI. Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 7.0 innings where she had seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits in 25 batters faced.

Seattle U (14-22, 0-3 WAC) had three hits. Andie Larkins pitched 6.0 innings and had three strikeouts in 23 batters faced.

After a scoreless first inning, the Aggies took the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Tatum Reedy hit a single to straightaway center and advanced to second on a passed ball. Reedy scored as Castro hit a triple to left center field. Amy Bergeson then hit a single to third base to score Castro as NM State took a 2-0 advantage.

NM State put another runner on base in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rodriguez hit a single to right field and stole second, but she was left stranded.

Seattle U put runners on second and third in the top of the sixth inning. Paige Bouska hit a single to left field and advanced to third as Isabella Geronimo hit a double down the left field line. Rose Saenz then lined out to Bergeson in left field as the NM State defense held the visiting team scoreless to secure the shutout.

Game Two

The Aggies scored five runs and amassed five RBIs on 10 hits. Kelsey Horton went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Kayla Green pitched 5.0 innings and had three strikeouts in 19 batters faced.

Seattle U had four hits. Alyssa Reuble pitched 5.0 innings and had four strikeouts in 24 batters faced.

After the Aggies retired Seattle U in order in the top of the first inning, NM State took the lead in the bottom of the inning. Horton hit a single to right field and advanced to second on a passed ball. Horton scored as Fiana Finau singled up the middle to give the Aggies a 1-0 advantage.

NM State retired the Redhawks in order for the second inning in a row. In the bottom of the inning, Nue Sivia hit a single to right center but was left stranded. In the bottom of the third inning, Bergeson hit a single to the catcher but was left stranded as well.

Seattle U put runners on the corners in the top of the fourth inning. Geronimo hit a single to left field and advanced to second as Saenz grounded out. Geronimo advanced to third as Erika Rodgers singled to second base, but the NM State defense held the Redhawks scoreless.

The Aggies extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Finau hit a single to left field. Reedy then hit a single to right center and advanced to second on the throw as Finau reached third. Castro hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Finau, followed by a sacrifice fly by Sivia to score Reedy as NM State took a 3-0 lead.

NM State retired Seattle U in order for the third time in the top of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the inning, Bergeson hit a single to second base before Horton hit a two-RBI home run over left field as the Aggies captured a 5-0 victory.

The Aggies take the field again on Tuesday as they face No. 18 Arizona in a double header in Tucson, Ariz. The first game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. MT.
