LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Jordan Sperber is set to join the New Mexico State men’s basketball team as the new video coordinator announced head coach Paul Weir on Tuesday.

“Adding Jordan to our program is something I am extremely excited about,” Weir said. “We have never had a position here that was dedicated to incorporating analytics into our strategic planning.”

Sperber, a 2014 graduate of Villanova, spent the last year working as a graduate assistant for Nevada head coach Eric Musselman. While with the Wolfpack, Sperber produced pre and postgame analytics reports for players and staff. On top of his analytical duties, he also conducted individual and group workouts among other things.

However, Sperber is no stranger to New Mexico State after working with the men’s basketball team as an analytics consultant during the 2013-14 season. Some of his work included statistical analysis of the Aggies and their opponents in the Western Athletic Conference.

“Jordan’s background and abilities in this area are going to be tremendously impactful on our decision making processes going forward,” said Weir. “He is a talented young man that will add a layer of information that can only improve our success rate.”

The Slingerlands, N.Y., native spent one summer working for ESPN Stats and Info at its headquarters as part of the production analytics team for advanced football metrics, NBA end of game strategies and ensured accuracy of statistics across all platforms for the Worldwide Leader in Sports.

Sperber is well known around the basketball community as the founder of thehoopvision.com, a basketball analytical website he created as a junior in high school.

Additionally, he has worked on NCAA basketball research projects with Ken Pomeroy, draft research for the Philadelphia 76ers leading up to the 2015 NBA Draft and also helped implement basketball analytics for the Siena men’s basketball team for the 2014-15 season.
