NMSU Baseball Recruiting Class Ranked Nationally For Second Consecutive Year

TUCSON, AZ - New Mexico State baseball’s 2016 recruiting class has been named the 33rd ranked class in the nation by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced on Monday. This is the first time in school history the Aggies have had back-to-back nationally-ranked recruiting classes in baseball, with last year’s class ranked 37th.

“We are excited to bring in another extremely strong recruiting class to Las Cruces,” said head coach Brian Green. “Once again, I’m really proud of the coaching staff. To bring in back-to-back nationally-ranked recruiting classes is an incredible honor, but we are also aware that Las Cruces is truly a special town, and New Mexico State University is a tremendous institution. The class brings in two drafted players, five state players of the year and seven left handed pitchers. We believe in recruiting to our core values in order to enhance and develop the culture of our program. Our coaches, led by Joel Mangrum, did a tremendous job. We are fired up to bring these guys to campus and get to work.”

With the 33rd best recruiting class nationally, the Aggies ranked above Stanford, USC and Tennessee. NM State was the only school in the Western Athletic Conference and the only school in New Mexico ranked in the Top 40 classes.

The Southeastern Conference led the poll with four teams in the Top 10, and 11 in the Top 40.
