NMSU Women's Golf Finishes Wraps Up Play At Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown

BOULDER CITY, NV - The Aggies completed the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown after a final round of 292 (+4) which placed them in 17th. Team play was highlighted by shooting 112 holes for par and 25 birdies through 36 holes.

Pun Chanachai led the team through both rounds as she fired 72-70--140 (-2) and finished in a tie for 28th. Kristen Cline fired a 73 in both rounds to bring her total score to 146 (+2) which tied for 59th place.

Camille Orito matched Cline with a score of 73 in round two, a personal best, and she had a tournament score of 148 (+4) to tie for 70th. Chanachai, Cline and Orito accounted for 20 of NM State's 25 birdies.

Angela Xu competed in her first team event as an Aggie and carded a 77-76—153 (+9), as she tied for 95th. Rounding out the Aggies, Kennedie Montoya put up 78-76—154 (+10) which put her in a tie for 99th.

The final round of the tournament saw NM State fire a team best 292 and their final score of 589 (+13) moved them up to 17th place. The Aggies finished five strokes ahead of 18th place, Long Beach State.

At the end of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, Baylor remained atop the leaderboard at 551 (-25), while UNLV moved up into second with a total of 559 (-17) and Idaho completed the top-three with a two round score of 560 (-16).

The Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown was the last tournament of the fall season for the NM State women's golf team. They take a break and will return to action at the Peg Bernard Invitational in Stanford, Calif., Feb. 11-12.
